A family playground!

The Grandes-Coulées regional park is a true outdoor oasis where you can escape to the forest and discover an incredible nature!

On the one hand, the “Forêt ancienne” sector with its 10 km of trails along the magnificent Black River. The trails have a slight difference in elevation, which allows young parents to walk with a large wheel stroller. Dogs on leash are welcome! Open year round.

On the other hand, the Grande tourbière de Villeroy sector wich offers a 3 km walk, so 1.2 km is on a boardwalk in the heart of the open bog. A unique experience! Dogs are not allowed in this area. From May to November. 

A different way to explore the forest!

For enthusiasts and novices alike, the Grandes-Coulées Regional Park is a fabulous playground for geocaching. You will have a lot of fun walking along its trails, discovering the caches.

For the curious and the enigma lovers, ask about the GPS rally activity in the forest to do with family or friends, including the rental of the GPS device! Offering circuits of different levels, the rally solicits the deduction spirit of all participants. A great geocaching activity with puzzle solving. A great way to discover the Grandes-Coulées Regional Park!

For school groups, it can be interesting to discover the particularities of this second important peat bog in southern Quebec, with its 3 km of trails that culminate in a 1.2 km boardwalk deposited directly on the bog. This sector is in the process of becoming a protected ecological reserve. It is closed from mid-November to mid-May.

Activities offered: hiking, wildlife and flora interpretation course, geocaching, fishing, biking, snowshoeing, 18-module hebertism course (for ages 6 and up), rally with GPS ($).

Free access from sunrise to sunset. The information and equipment rental service (GPS rally, snowshoeing, overnight stay in a refuge) is located at the tourist information office of the MRC de L'Érable in Plessisville.

Your playground in nature!

There are many reasons to enjoy Grandes-Coulées Park! In the Old Forest sector, it is possible to observe a wide variety of nesting birds, including several species of warblers and rose-breasted cardinals. In addition, this sector is generous for mycology enthusiasts. Mushrooms of all colors and shapes can be observed here, especially in the fall.

In the Grande tourbière sector, part of the hike is on a boardwalk in the heart of the open bog. Getting into the heart of the bog, otherwise inaccessible, is a unique experience. The area is excellent for birding and observing the unique flora and fauna of this environment.

A family playground!

The Forêt ancienne sector of the Grandes-Coulées regional park will charm you with its 10 km of trails along the spectacular Noire river. Characterized by its flat terrain, the park offers you trails that are easily accessible for everyone. Guaranteed pleasure for all while snowshoeing!

Even your dog can be part of the fun as they are always welcome on leash. Mid-way through the trails, a shelter is available for snowshoers to simply take a break or to enjoy a well-deserved meal. In winter, the wood stove is very popular with hikers to warm up. Every day, from sunrise to sunset, access to the Forêt ancienne is free.
