Parc régional de Beauharnois-Salaberry

Parc régional de Beauharnois-Salaberry

Throughout its network, the Beauharnois-Salaberry Regional Park offers you a kaleidoscope of breathtaking landscapes and ambiances, all within a one-hour drive from Montreal.

In the 1930s, during the economic crisis, a huge canalization project between lakes Saint-François and Saint-Louis was carried out in the heart of what has now become the Beauharnois-Salaberry RCM, a huge canalization project between lakes Saint-François and Saint-Louis. Over a period of 3 years, over a distance of nearly 25 kilometers, a kilometre-wide canal was dug to supply the "Beauharnois" hydroelectric power station and later serve the St. Lawrence Seaway. For decades, on nearly 50 km of shoreline, the environment remains inaccessible and is left to lie fallow.

Some 60 years later, thanks to cooperation between partners, one of Quebec's land development models was created: the Beauharnois-Salaberry Regional Park. Since then, citizens have had the opportunity to reappropriate an entire environment where they have access to vast natural, nautical, riparian and wooded areas. In short, a true collective heritage rediscovered...

Located in the heart of the tourist region, the Beauharnois-Salaberry Regional Park is a vast recreational and leisure facility accessible to all for the practice of outdoor activities and healthy lifestyles. Since the inauguration of the very first cycling section in 1996, the Park has continued to develop and now connects the two urban centres of the MRC while branching out to all of its rural municipalities.

The Regional Park is located in the heart of the Beauharnois-Salaberry tourist region and consists of a vast recreational and leisure facility accessible to all for the practice of outdoor activities and healthy lifestyle habits. There are more than 70 km of flat, paved and multifunctional trails for cyclists, pedestrians and in-line skaters.
