Gaspesie

Off the Gulf of the St. Lawrence, the mythical Gaspe Peninsula is an ideal destination for hikes, deep sea excursions, wildlife or whale observation, kayaking, canoeing, days at the beach, canyoning, diving and so much more. The Tourisme Gaspesie visitor region includes access to the GRA1 trail ? the only hiking trail in North America homologated GR® (long-distance/grande randonnée). Also known as the International Appalachian Trail, it connects to the tip of Parc national de Forillon in the Matapedia region and crosses the Chic-Choc mountain range, offering long-distance hikes of up to 40 days long. Canoe buffs should paddle the limpid waters of the Bonaventure River, and admire its turquoise reflections. From its acclaimed Perce Rock, Bonaventure Island and northen gannet population to its UNESCO World Heritage status and summits that soar high above the 1,000 metre mark, Gaspe is a must-see region for its great outdoors. In winter, abundant snowfalls make it an off-trail skier’s and snowmobiler’s paradise up in in the mountains of the Chic-Chocs Wildlife Reserve, and Parc national de la Gaspesie, where visitors also enjoy caribou and moose observation.

Ski Chic Chocs

Backcountry activities

Clean, crisp eastern powder!

The exceptional setting of the Madeleine Mines is where Ski Chic-Chocs offers guided backcountry activities. ( Catskiing with skis or snowboards, backcountry touring and snowshoe treks at the summits ) From our beginnings in 2006, Ski Chic-Chocs has developped an expertise in winter adventure tourism and training. We are leaders in guided backcountry winter adventures and in specialized mountain skills trainings. Because of our experienced guides and our equipment, we are able to offer a safe environment for practicing winter sports in the Chic-Choc Nature Preserve as well as the Gaspésie Provincial Park. We became exclusive suppliers of guided backcountry winter services for the SEPAQ in the Gaspe Provincial Park in 2008 as well as members of Adventure Ecotourism Quebec ( AEQ ). We have a unique arrangement with the SEPAQ and offer the only mecanized access to one of the best alpine terrains in the Northeast. We have a machine capable of transporting our guests from the door of the Gîte du Mt-Albert (Mount Albert Wilderness Lodge ) to the best winter playground paradise around for a snowshoe day at the summits. We also offer a wide range of mountain skills training programs including Avalanche Safety Training level I and II, specialized trainings in tourism in isolated areas, winter mountain travel training as well as first-aid training in remote areas.
