Where to climb in the Rimouski area?

Closer to downtown, families with young children will find their happiness on the walls of Parc Beausejour, 10 m high. The site is also frequented by bouldering enthusiasts who will find tough challenges!

In Trois-Pistoles, there is a new bouldering site, for all levels, located on the grounds of the Ferme du Castor Gras. In addition to climbing the many boulders strewn about the forest, don’t hesitate to stop by and say hello to the owner and perhaps stock up on seasonal organic vegetables.

Finally, a little further, the site of the Gamache mountain in Saint-Cyprien is undoubtedly worth the detour! Located on the Trois-Pistoles River, we are far from suspecting that in the middle of the Témiscouataine forest, this quartzite cliff emerges. However, after a fifteen minute walk, we reach the habitat of a family of beavers, some turkey vultures and blue jays and we discover with delight this remote and still unknown wall. Ideal for a day away from the crowds, this place will seduce you.

To climb on your own, like skydiving, you’d better know how to do it. Belaying your partner, managing the rope and rappelling are all simple techniques, when mastered, but they leave no room for error. Fortunately, the Riki Bloc co-op offers safe options for those who like new experiences!

You can choose to be guided by professionals during a half-day discovery trip. This formula is ideal for friends, couples and families (with children as young as 5 years old) who wish to leave all the room for experimentation and the sensations that climbing provides!

You can also take an autonomy course in order to learn the essential techniques to ensure your safety on the wall. Please note that prerequisites are required for each course.

Finally, experienced climbers who travel light can rent their equipment at the RikiBloc climbing coop, located in downtown Rimouski.
